SWAYAM Courses For July Semester: The UGC has directed all Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) to integrate the SWAYAM courses for the July 2026 semester in their offered programmes. The institution may offer 40 per cent of the total programme via the SWAYAM courses.

SWAYAM Courses For July Semester 2026: The University Grants Commission (UGC) has mandated the integration of SWAYAM Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) in all Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) for the July 2026 semester. In an official notice, the commission directed that institutions may allow up to 40 per cent of the total courses being offered in a particular programme’s semester, via the SWAYAM portal. 

Students will be able to appear for the SWAYAM course end-term examination at their own university campus and will not be required to go to other centres, allowing greater flexibility and accessibility.

UGC Directs Meeting For Credit Transfer Mechanism 

The UGC has directed the HEIs to circulate the list of approved SWAYAM courses to Deans, Heads of Departments, SWAYAM University Nodal Officer (SWAYAM UNO) of their institution. The commission also asked the institutions to assemble a meeting for the purpose of finalising the mechanism for credit transfer and adoption in the July 2026 semester.

HEIs have also been asked to display the approved list of SWAYAM courses on the university/institutional website/official Social Media handles for wider dissemination.

Who Developed The SWAYAM Courses Being Offered For July 2026 Semester?

The Ministry of Education has approved a list of MOOC’s available on the SWAYAM portal eligible for the July 2026 semester. The courses on the SWAYAM portal were developed by National Coordinators (NC) such as:

  1. University Grants Commission (UGC)
  2. Consortium for Educational Communication (CEC)
  3. National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL)
  4.  Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU)
  5.  Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore (IIMB)
  6.  All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE)
  7.  NITTTR (National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research)

SWAYAM offers high-quality Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) across several disciplines as the Government of India’s national online learning platform. It supports the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 by promoting multidisciplinary learning, academic flexibility, and wider learner choice, while enabling students to earn academic credits.
