IIM Kozhikode has recorded the highest ever female representation in an IIM Flagship MBA Programme, with 66% women in its 2026-28 PGP Batch.

The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Kozhikode has achieved a milestone in management education by admitting the highest number of women to its flagship MBA Programme. For the 2026-28 academic session, nearly two out of every three students in the Postgraduate Programme are women, making it the highest representation ever recorded in the history of the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs).

According to the institute, 329 of the 499 students admitted to the flagship PDP are women, taking female representation to approx 66%. Overall three full-time MBA Programmes as PGP, PGP in Liberal Studies and Management, PGP in Finance. The institute has inducted 599 students of whom 377 are women. Alongside the MBA admissions, IIM Kozhikode also welcomed 99 doctoral (PhD) Scholars for the 2026 academic session, reflecting the institute’s continued focus on strengthening research and higher education. 

Academic DiversityImproves in News Batch

The 2026-28 batch also reflects greater academic diversity. The institute said that 57% of students in the flagship PGP come from non-engineering backgrounds. This highlights efforts to build classrooms with varied educational experiences. It also aligns with the institute’s broader objective of promoting diversity in management education.

The record breaking intake is being viewed as a significant step towards improving gender representation in India’s premier business schools. In recent years, IIM Kozhikode has consistently increased female participation in its MBA Programmes, and the latest batch sets a benchmark for it.

The latest admissions date highlights the growing participation of women in management education and reflects changes in overall India.
