Uttar Pradesh’s average literacy rate is 67.68% which is less than the India’s National average literacy rate of 74.04%. And UP literacy rate sits far below the other leading states like Mizoram, Kerala, Goa, Tripura etc.

Inequality and regional Disparities

Although UP is scored number one in the Population in India but still legging behind the literay  due to the several seasons like high rural-urban and regional disparities which could be seen in the regions like Western and central industrial hub but  UP Purvanchal(Eastern UP) and theTarai belt still are underdeveloped.

Gender Disparities

The gender literacy gap, across the Up male literacy stands at 77.28% while female literacy drops at 57.18%. It highlights the societal imbalances that create a notable disparity between the male and female educational attainment especially in the marginalised and economically weaker section.

Educational Infrastructure and Basic amenities

Many rural governamnet run schools still faces the structral issues. According to the data systemic issues like teacher vacancies, high student to teacher ratios and inadequate basin amenities such as sanitation and clean drinking water. These factors also cause the low student retention rate which eventually leads to quality of education.

Economic and seasonal Migration

UP is an agricultural run state 1/4th of its GDP (gross domestic product) while more than half of its  population depend on agriculture and its allied activities. Families that are  reliant on agriculture also face financial problems. They often rely on children to contribute to household income or assist with it, especially in the marginal farmers.

Seasonal migration across rural UP frequently disrupts formal schooling causing childers to drop the schools which eventually leave the education system altogether.
