2nd Schedule of the Indian Constitution

Originally, the Constitution of India included only 8 schedules, but currently there are 12 schedules in the Indian Constitution after the various amendments.

The main objective of these schedules is to sort out any uncertainty in any articles of the Indian Constitution.

The 2nd Schedule of the Indian Constitution deals with the salaries, along with allowances and privileges, of the key constitutional authorities.

Schedule of the Indian Constitution

According to the National Portal of India, the Constitution of India was adopted by the Constituent Assembly on 26th November, 1949, and came into force on 26th January, 1950. Originally, there were 8 Schedules in the Indian Constitution, but later on, with various amendments, currently, there are 12 Schedules in the Indian Constitution.

2nd Schedule of the Indian Constitution

The provisions of the 2nd Schedule of the Indian Constitution are related to salary, allowances, and enumeration of office-holding public offices that are:

1. The President of India

2. State Governors

3. Lok Sabha Speaker & Deputy Speaker

4. Rajya Sabha Chairman & Deputy Chairman

5. Legislative Assembly Speaker and Deputy Speaker (State)

6. Legislative Council Chairman & Deputy Chairman (State)

7. Judges of the Supreme Court & High Courts

8. Comptroller and Auditor General of India

In the 2nd Schedule of the Indian Constitution, originally, there were five parts, but currently there are only four parts, which are the following:

2. Part B (Omitted)

3. Part C

4. Part D

5. Part D 

Part A of the 2nd  Schedule of the Indian Constitution

This part deals with the salary, allowances, and enumeration of the 

1. President of India

2. Governor of a State

Part B of the 2nd  Schedule of the Indian Constitution 

This part was omitted in the 7th Constitution Amendment Act in 1956.

Part C of the 2nd  Schedule of the Indian Constitution

This part deals with the salary, allowances, and enumeration of the 

1. Lok Sabha Speaker & Deputy Speaker, 

2. Rajya Sabha Chairman & Deputy Chairman 

3. Legislative Assembly Speaker and Deputy Speaker (State)

4. Legislative Council Chairman & Deputy Chairman (State)

Part D of the 2nd  Schedule of the Indian Constitution

This part deals with the salary, allowances, and enumeration of the judges of the Supreme Court & High Courts.

Part E of the 2nd  Schedule of the Indian Constitution

This part deals with the salary, allowances, and enumeration of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India.
