Studying at IIT is still a dream of many students. With the same dream Gunjan Kumar, a boy from Sitamarhi, Bihar came to Kota to fulfill his dream to become an engineer. His eyesight was very weak, due to this he cannot see clearly, but he did not give up on his dreams. He came to Kota in 2023 and took admission in Allen Career Institute and started his preparation to crack IIT

Gunjan seems to be a hard working boy but just before the exams, something unexpected happened and he was not able to attend classes due to some serious health issues. He was diagnosed with pneumothorax, a condition in which one of his lungs had collapsed. Because of this, he had to stay in bed for almost three months and could not attend classes.

In his difficult time, his mother Mrs. Gunja became his biggest supporter. She did not want her son’s studies to stop. Everyday she use to attend the online classes and carefully made notes for Gunjan. She has not studied like a student for many years but, to fulfill Gunjan’s dream she started learning again just to help her son. Together they both worked hard and revised the whole lesson. Gunjan slowly recovered and started learning again through her mothers notes.

Finally, Gunjan appeared for the exam, and post result declaration. Gunjan scored 91.8 percentile in JEE Mains and secured an excellent rank in JEE Advanced under PwD category. His hard work and constant support from his mother made him get a seat in IIT Delhi in Computer Science Branch. Gunjan said the exam is not only based on knowledge but also on courage.

His mother says “my son’s dream is also my dream" and she is very happy that the notes she made helped him to achieve success. Gunjan’s story teaches us how you should never give up on your dreams, whatever may be the situation you should always aim high, and always value your parents and teachers. With your hard work and support you can achieve anything.
