Meta announced a new round of global cuts on May 20, with about 10% of its workforce, or roughly 8,000 jobs, being affected in the first major wave. At the same time the company also said around 7,000 employees would be moved into new AI-focused initiatives, while another 6,000 open roles were closed as part of the same reset.
