IIM Ahmedabad: Due to the unstable security situation resulting from the ongoing crisis in West Asia, the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA) has formally suspended activities at its recently opened Dubai campus. The institute has successfully moved all enrolled students from the worldwide site to the main IIMA campus in Gujarat, India, with a focus on the security and welfare of its scholars. Despite the geopolitical unrest in the area, this calculated move guarantees that the first batch's academic career will continue.
Currently housing 35 students enrolled in a specialized one-year MBA program that started in September 2025, the Dubai extension opened its doors in 2025 as a daring step toward global expansion. It's interesting to note that all of these students were stationed in Spain as part of a required overseas internship, so they weren't physically in the United Arab Emirates when the violence intensified.
Instead of sending the students back to Dubai, the management decided to transport them straight back to the Ahmedabad headquarters in order to avoid the difficulties of traversing interrupted Middle Eastern airspace and possible ground hazards.
Emergency Relocation Amid Regional Instability
The unstable security situation in the area prompted the decision to close the Dubai campus, which is situated in Dubai International Academic City. The administration stressed that the "security and wellbeing of students" continues to be the top priority notwithstanding IIMA's longstanding reputation for academic success. Even though the Dubai campus was the focal point of IIMA's worldwide expansion strategy, the current geopolitical situation required an immediate return to the Ahmedabad headquarters in order to guarantee a continuous and secure learning environment.
The interim shutdown underscores IIMA's dedication to candidate security, even if the Dubai campus marks a major milestone for the institute's global presence. These 35 students will now complete the remainder of their rigorous curriculum alongside their peers in India, utilizing the extensive resources and faculty expertise available at the primary campus until regional conditions stabilize.
