Calcutta University Re-Admission 2026: The University of Calcutta (CU) has officially implemented significant amendments to its undergraduate re-admission regulations under the Curriculum and Credit Framework (CCF) 2022. On March 30, 2026, the Vice-Chancellor approved this reform, which was implemented in accordance with the Calcutta University Act, 1979. Giving students more flexibility and structural clarity as they traverse their academic paths across multiple fields is the main goal of these modifications. These revised guidelines are applicable to a broad spectrum of undergraduate programmes, including B.A., B.Sc., B.Com., B.B.A., B.F.A., and other specialized courses that were previously governed by the admission regulations issued in 2023.

The addition of a "Fresh Admission" option is a major feature of this policy update. The new regulations allow previously enrolled students to cancel their previous enrollment and acquire a new seven-year period to finish their degree if they choose to modify their course or subject combinations. Students who stayed in the same course but never took a university test are likewise eligible for this "reset". 

Nonetheless, students who have already taken exams are subject to a stringent deadline set by the university: they must finish their program within seven years of their initial enrollment date. Calcutta University hopes to lessen academic stagnation and enable students to change their fields of study without facing consequences by harmonizing these regulations with the CCF 2022 framework.

Rules for Re-Admission in The Same Course

Based on their past test results, Calcutta University has set specific requirements for students returning to the same course and subject combination. After canceling their prior enrollment, those who never took an end-of-semester exam are eligible for new admittance. They have an entirely new seven-year window from the current admittance year to finish their degree thanks to this approach.

On the other hand, there are more stringent restrictions for students who have already taken an exam for at least one semester. In these situations, the institution will not cancel or reset their enrollment; instead, their initial registration is still valid and unaltered. As a result, these applicants have to finish their undergraduate degree within the initial seven-year period, which is determined starting from the year they were admitted to the university.
