100% Online Attendance Mandatory: UP Issues Strict Deadline for Schools in 33 Districts

The Uttar Pradesh education authorities have issued a strict directive to ensure 100% daily online attendance in secondary schools across 33 districts. District education officials have been instructed to improve online attendance registration and achieve complete compliance within six days. The directive covers students, teachers and non-teaching staff.

The move comes after the Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad (UPMSP) identified several districts where online attendance registration remained extremely low. Bhadohi recorded 0% online attendance, prompting authorities to direct officials to take immediate corrective measures.

UP Online Attendance: What Does the New Order Say?

Under the latest directive, education officials in the identified districts have been asked to ensure that schools regularly record attendance through the prescribed online system. The authorities have set a target of 100% daily online attendance and given district officials six days to ensure that schools comply with the requirement.

The directive is aimed at strengthening attendance monitoring, improving accountability and ensuring that online attendance data is updated consistently across schools.

33 UP Districts Flagged for Low Online Attendance

The UPMSP has identified 33 districts where online attendance registration was reported to be 10% or less. The districts are:

Note: The 33 districts named by the board include Bhadohi, Unnao, Mirzapur, Farrukhabad, Saharanpur, Gonda, Prayagraj, Chitrakoot, Chandauli, Kanpur Nagar, Mainpuri, Siddharthnagar, Agra, Ballia, Sonbhadra, Hamirpur, Azamgarh, Kaushambi, Kanpur Dehat, Jaunpur, Sultanpur, Fatehpur, Ghazipur, Hathras, Bulandshahr, Lucknow, Banda, Hardoi, Aligarh, Firozabad, Bahraich, Deoria and Gorakhpur.

Bhadohi Records 0% Online Attendance

Among the districts flagged by the authorities, Bhadohi emerged as a major concern after recording zero online attendance. The low compliance has led the education authorities to direct district officials to take immediate action and ensure that schools follow the online attendance system. The six-day deadline gives officials a short window to bring schools under the required attendance-monitoring mechanism.

What Does 100% Online Attendance Mean for Schools?

The directive is primarily focused on ensuring that attendance data is recorded and updated through the online system. It does not mean that students are required to attend school virtually.

Schools are expected to ensure regular online attendance registration for students, teachers and non-teaching staff as applicable under the system. District-level officials will be responsible for monitoring compliance and taking necessary action where attendance registration remains low.
