The Dr. NTR Vaidya Seva Scheme serves as a testament to the fact that a medical emergency can cost a family their entire savings in just a few days. Households from low-income and middle-income groups have to weigh the cost of getting specialized medical services like cardiology treatment, oncological treatment and organ transplant surgery. 

To help families with financial burden, the Government of Andhra Pradesh has initiated the Dr. NTR Vaidya Seva Scheme (earlier known as the Dr. YSR Aarogyasri Scheme). This scheme is based on a public-private partnership (PPP) model and is one of the most useful initiatives that the government has implemented.

Objectives of Dr. NTR Vaidya Seva Scheme

The main aim of the Dr. NTR Vaidya Seva scheme is to ensure universal health coverage of the underprivileged as well as the working-class citizens of the state of Andhra Pradesh.  

• The objectives of the scheme are: Comprehensive Financial Risk Coverage: Protecting families against the astronomical health costs that force them into poverty.

• End-to-End Cashless Treatment: Leaving no hassle for the patients in terms of treatment as everything will be taken care of by the hospital by means of online payment.

• Equitable Healthcare Availability: Keeping government hospitals as well as leading private hospitals in the scheme as a means to provide medical facilities to their clients.

• Complete Illness Coverage: Covering everything including complex surgeries, treatment for various diseases and organ transplants.

Financial Coverage and Treatment Benefits 

The program offers one of the highest government health insurance coverages in the nation:

• Maximum Coverage Term: Up to ₹25 Lakh annually for families. 

• Medical Services Covered: More than 3,250 surgical/medical therapies within numerous specialist fields. 

• Transplant Services: It encompasses organ transplant operations that are quite expensive, such as those involving the liver, kidneys, heart, and stem cells.

• Complimentary Diagnostic Testing and Consultation: The outpatient diagnosis and consultation, periods at a hospital, and the food while admitted are included in the offer.

• Post-Discharge Treatment: The offer incorporates a complete year of free medical follow-up and medications for 138+ different post-operative conditions.

Who is Eligible? (Eligibility Criteria)

Eligibility is determined automatically through state database cross-verification, focusing primarily on low-to-middle-income residents of Andhra Pradesh.

Documents Required for Application 

To apply or connect your information with Dr. NTR Vaidya Seva network, bring along the following documents:  

• Your Aadhaar card, mandatory for all family members linking the ABHA ID. Valid Rice Card or White Ration Card.            

• Income certificate (issued by Meeseva and Grama Ward Sachivalayam) and proof of residence like Voter ID, electricity bill or residential certificate.                                    

• Passport-size photographs of the family head and family members.    

How to Apply: Step-by-Step Application Process

If you hold a valid Rice Card or White Ration Card in Andhra Pradesh, you are automatically enrolled into the scheme database. However, if your card details need updating or you are applying fresh, follow either method below: 

Method 1: Through Grama / Ward Sachivalayam (Recommended)

• Go to your nearest Grama Sachivalayam office to apply in Andhra Pradesh.   

• Ask for the NTR Vaidya Seva / Health Card enrollment form.   

• Fill in the form and attach your Aadhaar Card, Rice Card, and Income Certificate as well.   

• The Digital Assistant / Welfare Assistant will check your documents and credentials with Government records.   

• Once your application is approved, your name will be added to the health website and your Health Card will be issued. 

Method 2: Internet Registration through the Authorised Website

• Go to the official site of Dr. NTR Vaidya Seva Trust: drntrvaidyaseva.ap.gov.in. 

• Select the option of Online Application/Registration (available through either Meeseva services or Citizen login).

• Provide the details of the head of the family as well as the family members as per the records in Aadhaar.

• Upload proper copies of the requisite documents.

• Complete the application and take note of the Reference/Application Number to monitor the status of your card.

How to Download Dr. NTR Vaidya Seva Health Card Online 

With the portal or official mobile application, it is possible to download your digital health card any time.  

1. Visit the official site drntrvaidyaseva.ap.gov.in.  

2. From the homepage and click on EHS / Health Card Service.  

3. Click on the Download Health Card link.  

4. Input Aadhaar Number, Rice Card Number or Health Card UHID Number. 

5. Authenticate your number using the OTP sent to your mobile number registered with your Aadhaar card.  

6. As you are validated, your eHealth Card will become visible on the screen.  

7. A PDF will be available for download and printing for your personal record.  

Through Mobile App: The following steps can be conducted through the official mobile application as well. Search for 'Dr NTR Vaidya Seva' in the Google Play Store downloaded it and then logged in your registered number and OTP for accessing the digital health card from your mobile. 

How to Obtain Cashless Treatment at Hospitals 

If you or any member of your family needs hospitalization, the process is as simple as follows:

• Find the Empanelled Network Hospital (NWH). Access the website or application and check the list of hospitals in the network. 

• Contact the hospital help desk and find the Vaidya Mitra (Aarogyamitra, health coordinator) present in each empanelled hospital. 

• Verify your identity: provide your Health Card/Rice Card/Aadhar Card to the Vaidya Mitra. The Vaidya Mitra will generate the Outpatient (OP) or Inpatient (IP) Token for you. 

• Pre-Authorisation: In case of surgeries/inpatient admissions, the Medical Coordinator of the hospital will submit digital pre-authorization to Dr. NTR Vaidya Seva Trust. 

• Cashless Treatment: as soon as the Trust approves the pre-authorization (usually within a few short hours), the treatment is conducted entirely cashless without the need for advance payments.
