Bihar Assistant Professor Recruitment 2026: Part-Time Faculty to be Hired Across State Universities, 211 New Degree Colleges to Open Soon
Bihar will soon launch a huge recruitment drive for part-time assistant professors across its universities and colleges to maintain regular academic sessions. The decision was made by Syed Ata Hasnain, Governor cum Chancellor, in a high-level meeting, and it was also decided that 211 new degree colleges will also open under the Saat Nischay-3 program.
The state government is preparing for a huge recruitment drive for assistant professors, which will greatly benefit the higher education industry and increase job opportunities in Bihar, as the media reports suggest. During a high-level meeting at the Bihar Lok Bhavan, the Governor and Chancellor, Syed Ata Hasnain, authorised all the Vice Chancellors of the state universities to appoint part-time or usually known as guest faculty members. The main aim of this directive is to ensure that the regular classes are not affected and to improve the overall quality of education at all state-run universities.
The meeting also carefully reviewed the ongoing process of setting up new 211 Degree colleges under the state government’s ambitious plan, the SAAT Nischay-3 program. These new colleges will be set up at the block headquarters to guarantee local access to education. The Governor has also ordered the recruitment of assistant professors and infrastructure development for these 211 colleges to be handled strictly in a mission mode.
Introduction of Part-Time Assistant Professor Vacancy in Bihar
The upcoming Bihar assistant professor recruitment drive will work towards hiring part-time faculty members to align the teacher-to-student ratio effectively. In attendance were the Higher Education Minister Sanjay Singh Tiger and Chief Secretary Pratyay Amrit, who were also present at the meeting to arrange the implementation. Chancellor Hasnain also emphasised strict financial discipline and the immediate deployment of the online Samarth portal modules across universities to smoothly digitise academic payroll and student management system workflows.
Strict Timeline Set for Pending Faculty Promotions in Bihar
Besides new part-time professor recruitments, Lok Bhavan has now taken a firm decision on the pending backlog of faculty promotion files for a long time. A formal order has been issued to the Vice-Chancellors to initiate action on the pending cases of faculty promotions from June 15. All universities will have to systematically complete the evaluation process by September 15, 2026, providing a big relief to the existing teaching staff.
