Romania Government Scholarship 2026: Fully Funded Study and Research

The Government of Romania announced scholarships for Indian students for the academic year 2026–27 as part of the India-Romania Cultural Exchange Programme. They are available at all levels (Bachelor, Master, PhD) and in the form of short-term research and summer courses on Romanian culture.

Scholarships consist of full tuition and enrollment fees, a monthly stipend, dormitory (up to subsidy limits) and emergency medical assistance. This assistance helps to mitigate financial burden on academic exchanges.

What is the Eligibility Criteria for the Romania Scholarship?

Accepting Indian nationals who have performed well in their studies. For candidate applicants, both the Bachelor's/Master's level and the PhD level, a Romanian language certificate is required, while PhD applicants must have their research aligned. 

Not for full degree programmes, concentration on short study/research (up to 10 months maximum for each student).

What is Application Timeline for the Scholarship?

Apply from April 15 to May 15, 2026. Total 20 months' funding shared across candidates for studies/research; 2 slots for summer courses. 

Proposals must be submitted through India's SAKSHAT portal: proposalsakshat.samarth.edu.in/romania and sent as attachments by e-mail to the Embassy of Romania.

Make sure to have documents ready in advance: transcript, language proof, motivation letter, passport copy. Check information on SAKSHAT or Embassy website. Don't hesitate to act—may 15 is the deadline and early submission will help to minimize glitches.
