Joint Seat Allocation Authority has started the application and choice filling process for JoSAA counselling and seat allotment today. The link to submit the choices for allotment was active from 5 PM onwards. Check application steps, other details here.
JoSAA Counselling 2026: The Joint Seat Allocation Authority has begun the Admission and eCounselling Service applications today, June 2, 2026. Following the detailed schedule, the link for students to apply for the online counselling was activated at 5 PM on the official website. Candidates eligible to apply for JoSAA counselling can submit their applications through the link on the website.
A total of five rounds of counselling will be conducted. Those allotted seats in each counselling round are required to report to the allotted institutions for document verification and final admission process.

Those who have cleared their JEE Main and JEE Advanced 2026 exams can submit their applications for JoSAA counselling 2026. Through the counselling process, admissions will be granted to 23 IITs, IISc Bengaluru, 31 NITs, IIEST Shibpur, 26 IIITs and 56 Other-Government Funded Technical Institutes (Other-GFTIs). Candidates must make sure they submit their applications within the window provided.
The last date to apply for JoSAA counselling 2026 is June 11, 2026. In between this, the mock allotment will be issued based on the choices filled by candidates until June 7 and June 9, 2026, respectively. This will help candidates understand the allotment process and make the required changes in the choices of colleges based on their chances of securing admission in the first round.

JoSAA Counselling 2026: Steps to Apply for Round 1
The link for candidates to submit their applications for round 1 of counselling is available on the official website. Follow the steps provided below to submit their applications
Step 1: Visit the official JoSAA Portal
Step 2: Click on the JoSAA Round 1 application
Step 3: Click on the link and enter all required details
Step 4: Fill out the application form
Step 5: Review the choices entered
Step 6: Save and click on submit
It must be noted that candidates are NOT required to pay any fee for JoSAA registration and choice filling. During the application process, candidates will also be provided with an option for preuploading the necessary documents (if available at the time of JoSAA registration).

Candidates are also advised to take advantage of the mock seat allocations and choose ALL academic programs that they are willing to join in the order of preference. Candidates must note that they will NOT be considered for those academic programs which are not part of their choice selection
JoSAA Counselling 2026: Provisional Offer Of Seat And Its Confirmation
If the candidate is allocated a seat, they are required to download the “Initial Seat Allotment Intimation Slip”, which has information regarding the Seat Allotment and steps to be followed for seat confirmation by the candidate.
Step 1: Accept the Seat: The candidate needs to accept the seat allocated and opt for any one of the options ‘Freeze’, ‘Slide’ or ‘Float’ for the choice of academic program for subsequent round(s), if any, of joint seat allocation.
Step 2: Upload the documents: The candidate MUST upload all the required documents on the JoSAA portal, if the required documents have not already been uploaded during JoSAA registration
Step 3: Pay the Seat Acceptance Fee: The candidate MUST pay the seat acceptance fee for continuing with the JoSAA process till the end to avail the seat in IITs, IISc or NIT+ System.
Candidates who have cleared their JEE Main and JEE Advanced examinations must make sure they submit their applications for JoSAA counselling and seat allotment with the given deadline. Students must make sure they have copies of all necessary documents whoch are required to be submitted for the document verification process.
