Bihar CM Samrat Chaudhary Honours 168 Class 10, 12 Toppers With Cash, Laptop Amount
Apart from the rank-wise cash prize, each of the 168 students being felicitated has been provided an additional Rs 51,000 laptop incentive. The amount is intended to support students in purchasing a laptop for their higher education and academic needs.
Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary on Wednesday, September 9, honoured 168 meritorious students who secured top positions in the Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) Class 10 and Class 12 board examinations. The felicitation ceremony was held at Nek Samvad in Patna at 12 noon, with toppers receiving cash awards of up to Rs 2 lakh along with an additional amount of Rs 51,000 for purchasing laptops.
During the felicitation ceremony, CM Samrat Chaudhary said “Today, the Education Department is organizing this felicitation ceremony for the meritorious students of the 2026 Intermediate and Matric annual examination. When I was reviewing this, I came to know that this programme used to be held in November or December. So I felt that this programme should be held right at the beginning. When people pass their examinations and someone becomes a topper, they should be felicitated immediately. If it is done after six months, it becomes more of a collective event, and people also move to new places to take their lives to new heights.”

The programme was organised by the Bihar government and the Education Department to recognise students who performed exceptionally well in the 2026 Matriculation and Intermediate examinations. The toppers attended the event along with their family members. Bihar Deputy Chief Ministers Vijay Kumar Choudhary and Bijendra Prasad Yadav were also present at the ceremony

Under the revised reward structure, students securing the first, second and third positions in the Class 10 and Class 12 examinations received substantial cash prizes.
Students securing first position were awarded Rs 2 lakh, while those securing second position received Rs 1.5 lakh. Students who secured third position were awarded Rs 1 lakh.
The government has also provided incentives to students beyond the top three ranks. In the Intermediate examination, students securing the fourth and fifth positions received Rs 30,000 each. For the Matriculation examination, students securing positions from fourth to tenth were awarded Rs 20,000 each.
Rs 51,000 Laptop Incentive For Toppers
Apart from the rank-wise cash prize, each of the 168 students being felicitated has been provided an additional Rs 51,000 laptop incentive. The amount is intended to support students in purchasing a laptop for their higher education and academic needs.
The award structure is aimed at recognising academic achievement while encouraging students to continue their education. The cash incentives are linked to the students’ positions in the BSEB merit lists, while the laptop amount provides additional support irrespective of the specific eligible rank.
The Bihar government’s decision to reward board toppers comes after BSEB revised its prize structure for the 2026 examinations. For Class 10 students, the revised awards included Rs 2 lakh for the first rank, Rs 1.5 lakh for the second and Rs 1 lakh for the third rank, while students ranked fourth to tenth were eligible for Rs 20,000.
With the September 9 felicitation, the state government has brought together the top-performing Matriculation and Intermediate students to recognise their achievements and motivate other students to perform better in future board examinations.
