AIIMS Social Media Guidelines: The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Delhi has rolled out new social media guidelines for students, employees and residents of the institute. A major change introduced was that students will now not be able to use the institute’s name and logo without any prior written approval from the concerned authority or department. The directive comes amid concerns over the improper use of institute’s branding which can lead to reputation damage and legal complications.

What Does The Social Media Guidelines Implement?

The directive prohibits the unauthorised use of “AIIMS, New Delhi” name, logo and any official branding in any format (digital or print) on the following:

  1. Event posters, banners, social media posts, handles that suggest official representation.
  2. Videos, reels, blogs using AIIMS for promotional purposes.
  3. The use of name or logo must align with the official branding standards prescribed by AIIMS.

“No student, employee, or associated body shall use the name "AIIMS, New Delhi", AIIMS logo, emblem, or official branding in any form (digital or print) without prior written approval from the concerned department.” the official notice read.

Those involved with the misuse of AIIMS identity will face legal consequences including written warnings, suspension of association or access privileges, de-recognition of the student body, ban on participation in institutional events or denial of permission for such activities.

Responsibilities of Students, Employees Managing Official Content

Student bodies and employees managing the official content of the institute must register the official social media accounts with the concerned department. They should provide names, contact details, and institutional email IDs of the admin team.

Other responsibilities include:

  • Appointing a Media Coordinator as the point of contact for approval of any content.
  • The account must clearly mention that the content is student-generated or department-generated and not officially endorsed unless stated otherwise.
  • The content must not disclose confidential, sensitive, or internal information.
  • Students and employees should avoid political, religious, or defamatory material.
  • They should maintain a respectful and professional tone aligned with AIMS values.
  • Sponsored content or collaborations with external brands require special clearance.

These guidelines apply to all students enrolled in any undergraduate, postgraduate, doctoral or super-speciality programs. Student associations, clubs, faculty members, researchers, departments, centres, institutions or any third-party collaborators have also been directed to adhere to these new guidelines.
