SSC has issued an important corrigendum for the SSC CGL 2025-26 Sliding Framework. Key updates include decentralised Identity Verification (IV) at candidate-chosen venues and mandatory Aadhaar authentication. Candidates must choose between 'FIX' or 'FLOAT' options for post-allocation, with strict biometric protocols now in place to prevent vacancy wastage.

The SSC CGL Corrigendum was issued regarding significant changes to the Identity Verification (IV) process, Aadhaar verification criteria, and the "Fix or Float" options that determine the final post-allocation.
Candidates must understand the SSC Corrigendum update, since these revisions will ensure that their candidature is not terminated during the final phases of the selection process.

2. Enhanced Aadhaar Authentication (Para 6 & 7)

The commission has made Aadhaar-based biometric authentication more stringent.
OTP Verification: Candidates must carry the mobile number registered in their application form to receive the Aadhaar OTP.
Even non-Aadhaar candidates or those who bypassed Aadhaar during application must now produce their Original Aadhaar Card during identity verification.
If a candidate’s biometric or face authentication fails (matched against the photo taken during the exam), their candidature may be cancelled immediately.

What is the SSC Sliding Mechanism? (Fix vs. Float)

The sliding mechanism is a strategic reform to ensure that no government post remains vacant due to non-joining or absenteeism.
First Round of Tentative Allocation (FRTA): Candidates receive an initial post based on merit and preference.

  • The "FIX" Option: If the candidate is satisfied with their FRTA post, they will select FIX. Their seat is secured, and they will not be considered for any further upgrades.
  • The "FLOAT" Option: If a candidate wishes to be considered for a higher-preference post (if a vacancy arises from an absentee), select FLOAT.
  • Note: If candidates are upgraded under FLOAT candidates must join the new post. Failure to do so will result in losing both the initial and the upgraded post.
  • Important Instructions for Candidates
  • Candidates must book their IV slot (Date, Shift, and Venue) on the SSC portal. Once booked, this cannot be changed.
  • Candidates must ensure that their Aadhaar is not in 'Locked' status, as this will prevent successful biometric authentication.
  • Failure to report at the designated venue on time will lead to the cancellation of their candidature.
