In addition to numerical marks, the TN Board employs a grading system. Scores between 91 and 100 are given the A1 grade, while scores between 81 and 90 are given the A2. The scale descends to D (33–40 points). It is crucial to comprehend these grades since grade point averages, rather than raw percentages, are used in some professional courses and at overseas universities.

A student must receive at least 35 points out of 100 in each subject in order to pass the HSE exams. Students must attend the practicals and meet a minimum theory score in order to be eligible for courses having practical components. A "Fail" status is applied if even one subject fails to reach the 35% requirement.

Students can download a tentative marksheet as soon as they check the results online. This is a legitimate document for temporary college admissions even though it is not the final certificate. Students should proofread this digital copy for spelling mistakes in their name, father's name, and birthdate.

Another official medium is the "Tamil Nadu Board Result" mobile app, which can be downloaded from the Google Play Store. Students can pre-register their information after downloading. The software allows users to verify their scores without a computer or web browser by sending a push notification as soon as the results are officially revealed.

The DGE provides an SMS service for students who live in places with inadequate internet access. Students can obtain their subject-wise grades by sending a message in a precise format to a specified number, which is often given on the morning of results. 

Students must input their Date of Birth and Registration Number (as stated on the Hall Ticket) in order to view the digital marksheet. The precise format DD/MM/YYYY must be used when entering the date of birth. The gateway will generate an error if these facts do not precisely match the school records.
