In one of the toughest exam security measures seen in recent years all experts involved in preparing the NEET UG 2026 retest question paper have been moved to a secure and undisclosed location. They have been placed under strict isolation rules with outside communication almost fully cut off during the final phase of paper preparation. This high alert arrangement will continue until the examination ends on June 21. The move is part of a major overhaul of the security system surrounding the exam after the earlier paper leak controversy which led to the cancellation of the NEET UG exam held in May and caused concern among more than 22 lakh candidates across the country. NEET UG 2026 Retest: Paper Setters Put Under Strict Lockdown

Authorities have introduced an extraordinary “lockdown” system for everyone involved in the confidential stages of question paper creation. This includes paper setters, moderators, translators and other key personnel linked to the final preparation of the exam.Officials involved in the arrangements said these experts are staying at a heavily secured facility under close supervision. The goal is to ensure that there is no scope for any leak or unauthorised access during the most sensitive part of the process.

The restrictions are severe Mobile phones, laptops and personal communication devices have been banned. Internet access and all outside contact have been tightly limited. Even digital wearables such as smartwatches are not allowed inside.Entry and exit at the facility are being carefully watched and recorded. Only authorised individuals are being allowed access.

Lockdown Is Only the First Layer of the New Security Plan

The isolation of paper setting teams is only the first step in a wider multi-layered security framework created by the Education Ministry and the National Testing Agency ahead of the re-examination. The NEET UG 2026 retest will be held in pen and paper mode on June 21 from 2 pm to 5.15 pm. It is scheduled to take place across 551 cities in India and 14 cities abroad.

Officials said that security has now been strengthened at every stage of the exam cycle. This includes question paper development, translation, moderation, printing, packaging, storage, transportation, distribution. The entire system has been divided into separate compartments so that no single person or group can access the full chain of operations. This compartment based approach is designed to reduce the risk of leaks and tighten accountability at each level.

Why the Security Measures Have Been Intensified

These sweeping steps come after the serious controversy over the earlier NEET UG paper leak. The May examination had to be cancelled, creating nationwide anxiety and uncertainty for lakhs of medical aspirants and their families. With more than 22 lakh candidates affected authorities appear determined to avoid any repeat of that crisis. The new arrangements show a clear shift toward much stricter control, tighter supervision and deeper monitoring than before.

Transportation of Question Papers Gets Special Attention

Transportation of question papers has become one of the most sensitive areas in the new plan. Officials said the government has explored the use of Indian Air Force aircraft for the secure movement of examination materials across the country. This shows how seriously the authorities are treating the risk linked to the physical transfer of question papers. By focusing on secure logistics they aim to protect the material from the moment it is printed until it reaches exam centres.

Digital Monitoring Increased Ahead of the Re NEET Exam

The security plan is not limited to physical handling of the papers. Authorities are also maintaining continuous surveillance in the digital space.Officials are carrying out round-the-clock monitoring of social media platforms, messaging apps, and online forums. The purpose is to spot fake question papers, misinformation campaigns and suspicious online activity. This digital watch is meant to stop panic, prevent the spread of false claims, and detect any unusual activity linked to the examination before it can cause wider disruption.

Education Ministry Pushes for Zero Gaps in Security

It is learnt that Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has directed officials to ensure that every weakness identified during the earlier examination cycle is fully addressed. This instruction appears to be shaping the entire retest strategy. From isolation protocols and restricted access to transport security and online surveillance the system has been redesigned to close every possible gap.
