India Flags Uzbekistan Medical Colleges Irregularities: NMC Tells Students to Verify Credentials, Avoid Agents

Indian authorities have raised concerns over irregularities in several medical colleges in Uzbekistan, prompting a warning for students planning to study MBBS abroad. The National Medical Commission, NMC, has advised aspirants to carefully verify the credentials of institutions before taking admission. The advisory comes after reports of questionable admission practices and non-compliance with regulations required for Indian students.

Officials have highlighted that not all foreign medical colleges meet the standards set under India’s Foreign Medical Graduate Licentiate (FMGL) Regulations, which are mandatory for practising medicine in India. 

What Students Should Check Before Admission?

Students are strongly urged to confirm whether the medical college is recognised and follows NMC guidelines. They should also check details such as the course duration, internship requirements, and medium of instruction to ensure eligibility for licensing exams in India. Authorities have also warned against relying on agents who may provide misleading or incomplete information about foreign universities.

In some cases, colleges have reportedly admitted more students than their approved capacity, raising concerns about infrastructure and the quality of education. With a rising number of Indian students choosing Uzbekistan for medical studies, the NMC has stressed the importance of informed decision-making. Students should depend only on official sources and verified information before finalising admissions to avoid future issues with degree recognition and licensing in India.
