IIT Dhanbad Internship 2026: Undergraduate and graduate students from all over the nation are invited to participate in high-impact research through the Indian Institute of Technology (Indian School of Mines), Dhanbad's officially launched Summer Research Internship Scheme (SRIS) 2026. The program, which is run by the Office of the Dean (Research & Development), is divided into three tiers: Category-I for B.Tech students, Category-II for postgraduate students (M.Tech, M.Sc., or MBA), and a special Category-III for long-term research internships that last six to twelve months. This program provides a rare opportunity for students to transition from theoretical classroom learning to hands-on experimentation and data modeling under the mentorship of world-class faculty at a premier technical institute.
Academic merit and research potential are prioritized in the very competitive selection procedure. While students from other accredited universities must maintain a CGPA of 8.0 or above, applicants from prestigious colleges like IITs, NITs, and IISc must maintain a minimum CGPA of 7.5. In addition to grades, the evaluation is based on prior academic accomplishments, recommendation letters, and a 500-word research proposal.
A ₹5,000 monthly stipend is given to individuals chosen under the institute-funded category for a maximum of two months. IIT (ISM) Dhanbad seeks to develop the next generation of innovators by incorporating students into its diversified research environment and providing them with the technical know-how and analytical rigor required for international careers in academic and industrial R&D.
