IIT Bombay Hosts Bharat Innovates Deep-Tech Pre-Summit; Shri Dharmendra Pradhan to Lead Special Session

IIT Bombay Bharat: The two-day Bharat Innovates Deep-Tech Pre-Summit is scheduled to take place at the IIT Bombay Research Park on March 21–22, 2026, officially hosted by the Ministry of Education. Prime Minister Narendra Modi's announcement of this historic occasion during the India-France Year of Innovation signifies a strategic change in India's position from a major consumer of global technology to a leading innovator. 

The summit, which operates under the direct supervision of the Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India, functions as a premier global accelerator intended to close the gap between international stakeholders like global venture capitalists and multinational corporations and India's higher education research ecosystem, which includes elite labs and research parks.

One of the event's highlights is the national showcase, which includes 137 high-potential deep-tech startups that were carefully selected from a pool of more than 3,000 applicants nationwide. Union Minister of Education Shri Dharmendra Pradhan will use homegrown technological advancements to demonstrate the government's commitment to "Viksit Bharat 2047" during a special session. The summit focuses on thirteen key sectors, including artificial intelligence, semiconductors, space technology, and sustainable energy. 

Through "reverse pitching" sessions and high-level networking, Bharat Innovates aims to transform Indian research-led companies into global industry leaders. This pre-summit enhances India's position as a leader in deep-tech skills and industrial independence and serves as a vital prelude to the June International Innovation Showcase in Nice, France.

The Bharat Innovates Deep-Tech Pre-Summit: A Global Launchpad for Indian R&D

As the official selection ground for a prominent international innovation delegation, the Bharat Innovates Deep-Tech Pre-Summit at IIT Bombay represents a turning point for India's research-driven startup ecosystem. The summit promotes the advanced "academic backbone" of India's top universities, such as the IITs and IISc, by displaying innovations in 13 crucial technology sectors, such as semiconductors, advanced materials, space and military, and MedTech. These developments signify a calculated move away from consumer-grade software and toward high-tech solutions that can compete globally.

Bharat Innovates establishes India as an independent tech leader as the Ministry of Education closes the gap between lab-scale research and industrial implementation. This program demonstrates that India's education paradigm is becoming a global engine for deep-tech disruption, supporting the "Viksit Bharat 2047" vision while also preparing local businesses for their approaching international display in France.
