From NEET Dream to Rolls-Royce: How Rituparna KS Turned Setback Into Success

NEET is one of the biggest exams for students who dream of becoming doctors. Every year, millions appear for it hoping to secure a government MBBS seat. But not everyone gets the result they want and for many students that moment feels like the end of the road. The story of Rituparna KS from Karnataka proves that this is not true. She once dreamed of wearing a doctor’s coat  but when she could not get a government medical seat so she chose not to give up. A Career Turn That Changed Everything

After not securing admission to a government medical college Rituparna decided that one exam would not define her future. She moved into a completely different field and joined the Mechatronics, Robotics and Automation Engineering course at Sahyadri College of Engineering and Management. She was not from an IIT or any top national engineering college but she focused on what mattered most, learning practical skills and solving real world problems. During her college years she continued working on meaningful projects along with her studies. One of her standout projects was that she had designed a robot to support areca nut farmers. Showing her interest in using technology to improve day to day lives. Along with this she also took part in international robotics competitions and won medals proving her talent at a bigger stage. She also worked on research projects with NITK Surathkal which gave her valuable exposure to innovation and hands on technical work.

Internship, Skills and a Big Rolls-Royce Offer

The biggest turning point in Rituparan’s jounrey came when she secured an internship at Rolls Royce during her college days. Managing studies along with professional work was challenging.For almost eight months she handled both responsibilities together and often worked late at night to complete her projects. Her hard work and consistent performance helped her in her journey.

Initially Rolls Royce offered her a pre-placement offer of 39.6 Lakhs. Later increased the offer to 72.3 Lakhs after recognizing her skills and contribution.Since December 2024 she had been working there as Robotics Software Engineer. She develops advanced robotics software using ROS Gazebo Python and C++. Her role involved working on control system sensor integration and autonomous robotic technology.

Before joining Rolls Royce she worked in the gaming industry where she designed 3D characters using Blender and Unity. Ritupran’s story shows that one exam result does not define a person's future.
