Dehradun Imposes Section 163 Ahead of NEET UG Re-Exam 2026, Tightens Security Near Exam Centres

The Dehradun district administration led by Krishna Kumar Mishra has strengthened the security measures due to the Re-NEET exam happening on 21 June 2026. The administration has imposed section 163 of Bharatiya Nagrik Suraksha Sanhita across the district as part of the security measures.The move has been made to maintain law and order and to ensure that the exam is conducted in a fair, smooth and peaceful manner. As part of the restrictions, carrying weapons, using loudspeakers, holding public gatherings of five or more people, and organising demonstrations have been banned within 200 metres of 10 examination centres. The order was issued by Additional District Magistrate Krishna Kumar Mishra, who described the restrictions as a preventive step to avoid any disruption on exam day.
Strict Restrictions and Heavy Security Put in Place for NEET Re-Exam
The Dehradun administration has made it clear that the restrictions are precautionary and meant to protect the examination process from any disturbance. The official order states that any attempt to create law and order issues or interfere with the exam will be dealt with strictly under the law. Along with the prohibitory orders, security preparations have been significantly strengthened across the district. According to Superintendent of Police Pramod Kumar, extensive arrangements have been made for the re-exam. For the secure movement of question papers, both the police and CPMF personnel will be deployed on escort duty. In addition, a Sub-Inspector level officer has been assigned as in-charge for every exam centre. Over the last few days, local police station in-charges have been visiting the centres, checking preparations, and staying in contact with centre officials to ensure everything runs without trouble.
Students appearing for the exam have also been advised to follow the reporting schedule carefully. The NTA has asked candidates to reach their centres between 11:00 am and 1:30 pm, and the entry gates will close at 1:30 pm sharp. The examination will be held in pen-and-paper mode from 2:00 pm to 5:15 pm. This year, the exam is being conducted across 551 cities in India and 14 cities abroad, with more than 22.79 lakh candidates expected to appear. Local and national authorities have strengthened security arrangements to ensure the exam is conducted safely and transparently.
