It has reached out over 3.52 crore learners, 23.78 lakh teachers, 8.80 lakh schools and 5.59 lakh community members with 1,985 structured activities. The numbers above are active participation from urban and rural schools, showing the initiative's potential to scale and reach multiple learning communities.

Camp in the Classrooms

Activities include interactive city tours, discussion practice, storytelling, song, and cultural exchanges with the local community. Students can visit iconic places, heritage sites, and local customs in the region through virtual city tours and practice their local language.

Real-life conversation sessions match students with a peer, teacher, or community volunteer who speaks the region's language, giving students the opportunity to practice language in context and in a cultural manner, which is more than just reading or textbook exercises.

Pupils become more confident in their speaking and listening abilities, develop greater knowledge of the words they use in the regional languages and develop a sense of India's linguistic diversity. Classroom ready modules and opportunities for professional collaboration across states are provided for teachers. Local community members are engaged, which assists to connect school learning to the local culture, increasing the use of language in real life situations.

How to Participate in the Bhartiya Bhasha Summer Camp?

All schools across the country are invited to participate in the remaining camp events and to add their own. In most cases, a set of guidelines, activity templates and schedules are provided to the participating schools by the organizing authority. Students and teachers have access to official announcements, social media, lesson plans available to download and recordings of virtual sessions to use following live sessions.
