IIT Delhi International Admission 2026: For the 2026-2027 academic year, the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has formally launched its registration portal for foreign candidates looking to be admitted to Postgraduate (PG) and PhD programs. Prospective foreign citizens are encouraged to apply via the special international portal at international.iitd.ac.in, including those with OCI (Overseas Citizen of India) or PIO (Person of Indian Origin) cards. The application window will be open until March 30, 2026, and the deadline for submissions is set at 4:00 PM IST. This initiative underscores IIT Delhi's commitment to fostering a global academic environment by attracting high-caliber research talent from around the world to its state-of-the-art campus.

Candidates must meet certain documentation requirements intended to guarantee academic preparedness in order to be considered for admission. In addition to regular transcripts, candidates must submit a self-declaration of English language proficiency to show that they can succeed in a demanding English-medium research environment. Additionally, two academic or professional referees who may write recommendation letters must submit their contact information as part of the application process. 

Standardized exam results, such as those from the GRE or GATE, are strongly encouraged to improve a candidate's profile even though they are not always required for foreign routes. The first semester of the 2026 academic year is scheduled to start in late July, and shortlisted applicants will probably go through departmental examinations or virtual interviews in May and June.

Use these procedures to apply as an overseas student for the 2026 session of IIT Delhi's PG or PhD programs:

• Visit International Portal: To examine possible research fields and departmental eligibility requirements, visit the special admissions webpage at international.iitd.ac.in.

• Create User Profile: To obtain your unique application credentials and tracking ID, register your account on the portal with a working email address.

• Program Preferences: For the 2026 session, select your preferred PhD or postgraduate specialization from the Engineering, Sciences, Humanities, or Management departments.

• Upload Supporting Documents: For primary verification, submit your academic records, a self-declaration of your English ability, a Statement of Purpose (SoP), and a copy of your valid passport.

• Register Academic Referees: Provide the contact information of two referees who will write the required recommendation letters endorsing your research and academic ability.

• Final Submission: Before the deadline of March 30, 2026, 4:00 PM IST, pay the application fee and turn in the form.
