The FIFA World Cup 2026 started on June 11, 2026. The tournament is being hosted by 3 countries USA, Canada and Mexico. So far round of 32 has almost concluded with a lot of countries being eliminated already before reaching the Round of 16.

Unexpected Eliminations of World Cup 2026
Here are some of the least expected countries that were thought to perform well but were unfortunately knocked out of the tournament:
South Korea
South Korean Football Team is the strongest footballing nation from Asia. They have a star player like Heung Min Son who formerly was the captain of Tottenham Premiere League club. Along with him their are many talented players in South Korean football team which dissapointed the fan seeing their performance.
After losing out, the South Korean citizens were so dissapointed that they demanded immediate resignation of the football coach of the football team.
Turkiye
Turkiye is considered a dark horse because they keep shocking people by beating the European giant football nations. Inspite of having star players like Arda Guler, the Real Madrid midfileder, Turkiye failed to secure a spot in the round 16.
Uruguay
From South America, Uruguay is often considered at par with countries like Argentina and Brazil when it comes to football. To everyone’s surprise, Uruguay not only failed to perform but also had a rift with their coach and federation. The country’s players were asked to return in a commercial aeroplane instead of the private jet in which they have had to play the World Cup.
