Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) successfully defended their Indian Premier League (IPL) crown after defeating Gujarat Titans (GT) by five wickets in the IPL 2026 final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday, May 31.

After winning the toss, RCB captain Rajat Patidar chose to bowl first. Gujarat Titans struggled to build momentum and finished with 155/8 in their allotted 20 overs. Washington Sundar played a fighting knock of 50 not out, while captain Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan chipped in with useful contributions. However, RCB's disciplined bowling attack ensured that GT never got the acceleration they were looking for.

Chasing 156 for victory, RCB reached the target comfortably at 161/5 in just 18 overs. Star batter Virat Kohli once again delivered on the big stage, remaining unbeaten on 75 runs from 42 balls. His match-winning innings guided Bengaluru to their second consecutive IPL title after lifting the trophy in 2025.

With the victory, RCB not only retained the championship but also secured the winner's prize money, while several players received individual awards for their outstanding performances in the final and throughout the season.
