On the occasion of Raksha Bandhan 2026, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has highlighted the government’s focus on the safety, dignity and self-reliance of women and girls. The biggest immediate benefit for women this Raksha Bandhan is free bus travel from August 27 to August 29, 2026.

The Uttar Pradesh Government said that the free bus travel facility for mothers and sisters, which was started in 2017 on Raksha Bandhan, will continue this year as well.

Free Bus Travel for Women from August 27 to 29

The Uttar Pradesh Govt has the most direct Raksha Bandhan benefit which is, free bus travel for women.

• This will be offered for three days. The dates are August 27, August 28 and August 29, 2026.

• The place is intended to provide assistance to mothers, sisters during Raksha Bandhan festival.

• According to the UP Government, the free bus travel initiative was started in 2017 on Raksha Bandhan.

• The scheme has benefited 1.23 lakh women during the first eight years, an official publication in the UP Government states.

Focus on Women’s Safety and Dignity

The UP Government has also related Raksha Bandhan with the overall goal of protecting women.

As per the message of Raksha Bandhan from the government:

• Individuals have been encouraged to sign a pledge for the honour and safety of all the sisters and daughters.

• The government underscored Mission Shakti as one of the key initiatives towards the safety and empowerment of women.

• Mukhyamantri Kanya Sumangala Yojna has been pointed out for the protection, education and progress of daughters.

• The government also noted the social-security measures for women.

Women Entrepreneur Credit Card

Another aspect of the government's women-centric policy is economic independence.

The Uttar Pradesh Women Entrepreneur Credit Card Scheme was registered in the Uttar Pradesh budget plans of 2026-27. 

The scheme is listed by the official government documents as one of the new schemes for the state.

The aim is to empower women to be economically independent and assist their self-employment activities.

Mukhyamantri Kanya Sumangala Yojana

The Mukhyamantri Kanya Sumangala Yojana is another major scheme mentioned by the Uttar Pradesh Government in its Raksha Bandhan message.

According to an official UP Government publication:

• 22.12 lakh beneficiaries were covered under the scheme over the period mentioned in the government publication.

• The scheme focuses on supporting daughters and encouraging their development.

In a 2026 government statement, the Chief Minister also said that 26 lakh daughters were benefiting from the Mukhyamantri Kanya Sumangala Yojana.
