The National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) and the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) have highlighted a significant 24% spike in cyber crime cases in India with financial losses reaching ₹22,495 crore in 2025, scams and Digital Arrests have emerged as the biggest threats.

The data reveals a significant upward trajectory in registered cases involving communication devices as a medium or target.

  • Total All-India Cases (2023): 86,420

  • Total All-India Cases (2022): 65,893

  • Total All-India Cases (2021): 52,974

  • Growth Rate of Cyber Crimes: There has been a nearly 63% increase in registered cyber crimes over a three-year period.

State-wise Report: Top 5 Most Affected States

According to NCRB lated data on Cyber Crimes, certain states have seen an exponential rise in cases, particularly in South India. Karnataka now holds the highest number of registered cyber crime cases in India as per the latest NCRB data.
