The National Testing Agency (NTA) JEE Main exams for the year 2026 on dates 21, 22, 23, 24, has been completed and 28 and 29th of Januaryis all set to began. The engineering entrance exam will consist of two shifts; morning and evening. The morning shift will run from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, the evening will take place from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM. JEE Main 2026 Session 1 admit card has been released for download.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) is set to conduct the JEE Main 2026 examination in two distinct sessions:

Key Examination Schedule Details

The examination will be held in two shifts each day:

  • Morning Shift: 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM

  • Evening Shift: 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM

Candidates must stick to the reporting time mentioned on their respective Admit Cards to complete mandatory verification procedures before the gate closing time.

JEE Main 2026: Do's and Dont's for Students

Based on the official JEE (Main) 2026 Information Bulletin (pages 29-30), here are the critical exam day instructions, prohibited items, and general rules for candidates:

Report at least 2 hours before the exam starts.

Geometry/Pencil boxes, slide rules, log tables, DocuPen, printed/written material.

Immediately take your allotted seat marked with your Roll Number.

Handbags or purses.

Present your Admit Card and authorized Photo IDs on demand for Identity Verification.

Mobile phones, earphones, microphones, pagers, calculators, cameras, tape recorders, or any other electronic gadgets.

Approach the Invigilator/Centre Superintendent for technical help, first aid, or emergency.

Electronic watches with calculator facilities.

Perform all calculations on the Rough Sheet. Write your Name and Application Number at the top and hand them back before leaving.

Any kind of eatables or water (loose or packed).

Ensure Aadhaar Card details (photograph, name, DOB, etc.) are up to date.

Any metallic items or other electronic devices.

Sikh candidates are permitted to wear a "KARA" and "KIRPAN".

Mandatory Documents to Carry

Candidates MUST bring the following items along, or they will not be permitted to sit for the exam:

  • ADMIT CARD & DECLARATION: Clear printing on an A4 size piece of paper of the admit card and duly filled declaration (undertaking).

  • Passport Photograph: Passport-sized photo to be placed on attendance card, same as has been uploaded along with the application.

  • Original Photo ID: Valid and un-expired government ID (PAN Card, Aadhaar Card, Passport, Voter ID Card, or Class XII Board Admit Card with photo).

  • PwD/PwBD Certificate: If applicable, a medical certificate pertaining to physical limitations.

  • Pen: A basic, straightforward ball-point pen.

Important Warnings

  • Late Arrival: The candidates will not be allowed to come to the center after the closing of the gate due to any reason (such as traffic, bus, etc.).

  • Seat Swapping: The act of changing your assigned seat position as well as swapping rough sheets between participants also amounts to UnFair Means (UFM) and could result in the cancellation of your candidature/ debarment for a period of up to 3 years.

  • Data Integrity: NTA will not accept any corrections regarding details of applications (name, photo, and signature, etc.) sent through Post, WhatsApp, and Email after the stage of application.
