Indian Institute of Technology, IIT, Gandhinagar, is accepting applications for the academic year 2026-27 through its Early Admit M.Tech program. This initiative is specifically designed to offer admission to candidates who want to pursue M.Tech at IIT Gandhinagar. One of the important highlights of this initiative is that it offers admission to its M.Tech specialisations without GATE Scores, making it an attractive option for those who may not have appeared for the national entrance exam but possess an exceptional academic record. Registrations started on February 11, 2026 and will close on March 25, 2026. 

IIT Gandhinagar M.Tech Admissions 2026: Important Dates and Eligibility 

Aspiring candidates must keep a close watch on the timeline to ensure their applications are submitted on time. The online registration process started on February 11, 2026. 

• The registration deadline to submit the application form is March 25, 2026, by 5:00 P.M. 
• Following the submission phase, the institute plans to announce the list of shortlisted candidates on April 8, 2026 (tentative date).
• The final selection stage, which includes a written test and/or personal interview, is scheduled to take place from  April 15, 2026- May 14, 2026.

The Early Admit program has specific eligibility criteria that are designed for students of different categories:-

• Final year B.Tech students or graduates from NITs must have a minimum score of CGPA or CPI of 8.0 for the unreserved category and 7.5 for SC, ST, and PwD categories, at the end of their third year.
• Alternatively, those who are among the top 5 rank holders and the top 10 ranks for SC, ST, and PWD in their department are also eligible.
• Final year B.Tech students at any IIT can apply if they maintain a CGPA or CPI of at least 6.0 at the end of their third year.
• Students from selected reputed colleges who are top rank holders in their departments are also encouraged to apply.

The application process is entirely online and user-friendly. There is no application fee for this program.

• Candidates need to visit the official IIT Gandhinagar portal, enter their personal and academic details, and upload the necessary documents.
• The final selection is a combined process based on academic achievements and performance in the written test or interview. 
• The M.Tech specialisations that are being offered through this program include Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, and several other core engineering branches.

IIT Gandhinagar M.Tech Admissions 2026: Financial Support and Program Benefits

IIT Gandhinagar offers substantial financial incentives to support its M.Tech students. Candidates who have a valid GATE score are also eligible for a monthly fellowship of Rs. 15,400.

• Those admitted without a GATE score will receive a stipend of INR 6,000 per month.
• The institute encourages global exposure by offering travel grants of up to Rs. 60,000 for students to attend international conferences.
• Another Highlight of the program is the ‘visiting student’ option, where selected candidates can complete their final semester of B.Tech at IIT Gandhinagar before officially joining the M.Tech Program
