GATE 2026 Result:  Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati, is all set to declare the results of GATE 2026 tomorrow, March 19, 2026. Candidates who have appeared for the GATE 2026 entrance examinations can check their results on the official website.

The GATE 2026 examinations were conducted on February 7, 8, 14 and 15, 2026. The exams were conducted across designated exam centres from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm and 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm.

To check the GATE 2026 results, candidates are required to visit the official website - gate2026.iitg.ac.in and log in using their Enrollment ID and Password. A direct link for candidates to check their GATE 2026 results will also be available here once the results are announced.

The date for the announcement of the GATE 2026 result has been confirmed by IIT Guwahati. According to the schedule released, IIT Guwahati will be releasing the GATE 2026 results on March 19, 2026. Although the time of announcement of the results has not been confirmed, it is expected that the GATE 2026 results will be declared by the morning session. Candidates are advised to keep their login credentials ready with them to check their GATE results.

    GATE 2026 Result: Categories of Questions

    The questions in the GATE 2026 exams were designed to assess the following abilities 

    Recall:  These questions are based on facts, principles, formulae or laws of the discipline. Candidates were expected to be able to obtain the answer either from memory of the subject or at most from a short computation. 

    Comprehension:  These questions test the candidate’s understanding of the basic concepts and require the candidate to draw simple conclusions from fundamental ideas. 

    Application:  These questions test the candidate’s application of knowledge either through computation or by logical reasoning. 

    Analysis and Synthesis In these questions, the candidate was presented with data, diagrams, images, etc. that required analysis before answering a question. Questions in this category could, for example, involve the candidate being able to recognise unstated assumptions or separating useful information from irrelevant information.

    GATE 2026 Result: What is the Validity of the Scorecard

    The GATE 2026 scorecard is valid for THREE years from the date of announcement of the results. The window to download the GATE scorecard will be available from March 27, 2026. Candidates who have appeared for the exams and qualified must make sure they download their scorecard for further admission and employment requirements.

    GATE 2026 Result: Marking Scheme for GATE 2026

    Each question carried either 1 mark or 2 marks. For a 1-mark MCQ, 1/3 will be deducted for a wrong answer. For a 2-mark MCQ, 2/3 will be deducted for a wrong answer. There is no negative marking for wrong answers to MSQ and NAT questions. There is no partial marking for any question.

    The distribution of marks in all papers except AR, CY, DA, EY, GE, GG, MA, PH, ST, XH, and XL was as follows. General Aptitude section carried 15 marks, Engineering Mathematics: 13 marks, Subject Questions: 72 marks, Total: 100 marks 

    The distribution of marks in papers AR, CY, DA, EY, GE, GG, MA, PH, ST, XH, and XL were as follows: General Aptitude: 15 marks; Subject Questions: 85 marks; Total: 100 marks

    GATE 2026 Result: What was the Exam Pattern?

    GATE 2026 exams were held in February 2026. The exams were held in English for a duration of 3 hours across designated exam centres. Candidates were required to answer

    (a) Multiple Choice Question (MCQ)

    (b) Multiple Select Question (MSQ)

    (c) Numerical Answer Type (NAT) in the General Aptitude (GA) + Candidate’s Selected Subject(s).

    There were a total of 10 (General Aptitude) + 55 (Subject) = 65 Questions, with each questions carry either 1 mark or 2 marks.

    GATE 2026: Details of GATE 2026 Question Papers

    GATE 2026 contained three types of questions: Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs), Multiple Select Questions(MSQs), and Numerical Answer Type (NAT) questions. 

    Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) carry 1 or 2 marks each. Each MCQ will have a choice of four answers, out of which ONLY ONE choice is correct. 

    Negative Marking for Wrong Answers:  For a wrong answer chosen in an MCQ, there will be negative marking. For a 1-mark MCQ, 1/3 of a mark will be deducted for a wrong answer. Likewise, for a 2-mark MCQ, 2/3 of a mark will be deducted for a wrong answer.

    Multiple Select Question (MSQ)  carries 1 or 2 marks each. Each MSQ will have a choice of four answers, out of which ONE or MORE than ONE choice(s) is/are correct.

    Numerical Answer Type (NAT) questions carry 1 or 2 marks each. For NAT questions, the answer is a signed real number, which must be entered by the candidate using the virtual numeric keypad on the monitor. No choices will be shown for these types of questions.

    GATE 2026 Results: Test Paper Details

    The GATE 2026 was conducted for 30 test papers (subjects). A candidate was allowed to appear in ONE or TWO test papers. Each test paper was for a total of 100 marks, with General Aptitude for 15 marks, common for all test papers and the remaining 85 marks for various subjects. All test papers of GATE 2026 were conducted for a duration of three hours (four hours in case of candidates availing compensatory time), consisting of 65 questions for a total of 100 marks. After the examination duration has elapsed, the examination will terminate automatically.

    GATE 2026 Result: When were the GATE 2026 Exams Conducted?

    GATE 2026 examinations were held in February 2026 for a total of 30 papers. A new paper - a new sectional test paper on Energy Science (XE-I) in Engineering Sciences (XE)  was also introduced for GATE 2026.
