According to the latest reports, the Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad has introduced a change in the preparation of the UP Board 12th Marksheets 2026. According to reports, UP board class 12 students appearing for the 2026 board exams will be allowed to improve their scores. Students who have registered for the exams will be given the option to appear for an improvement exam.

According to reports, the UP board has sent a proposal to the state government introducing an improvement exam in one out of five subjects. The government has granted formal approval for the same, and the applications for the improvement exam will be available after the announcement of the board results by the end of April.

The new provision can significantly help students who have passed an exam but have scored low marks. The board did not have the facility for students to appear for the improvement exams. With the introduction of improvement exams, students can now improve their marks in any one subject of their choice.

According to reports, UPMSP Secretary Bhagwati Singh has stated that the improvement system will be implemented once the final government approval is received. The state board had earlier introduced compartment exams for intermediate students in 2020, under which a student who fails in one subject can appear for the compartment exams and improve their score. This, however, was a replacement of the earlier rule under which it was mandatory to appear in all five subjects even if a student failed in only one exam.
