U.S. First Lady Melania Trump Presides Over U.N. Security Council Meeting Amid U.S.-Israel Attacks

In a historic moment for Women’s History Month, First Lady Melania Trump presided over the U.N. Security Council meeting on March 2, 2026. The meeting was held in the U.N. headquarters in New York. 

The agenda of the U.N. Security Council meeting was to focus on children, technology, and education in conflict zones, even as the U.S.-Israel attacks on Iran continued. 

This marked the first time a sitting U.S. First Lady chaired the 15-member council during America's rotating March presidency. This was also a crucial moment as we enter Women's History Month in March.

Melania Trump kicked off the meeting with a call for "peace through education," focusing on her longtime support for children in war zones such as Ukraine.

This comes on the heels of the strikes on Iranian targets, including a school with child casualties, which the U.S. supported.
