Delhi-NCR School Holiday September 9

Some schools have announced their own schedules around the September 11 closure due to arrangements for the BRICS Summit. For example, Delhi Public School R.K. Puram has announced September 9 as a preparatory leave for its students, with certain extra-help classes being conducted online.

There is no blanket weather-related school holiday announced for Delhi-NCR for September 9. Schools are generally expected to operate according to their regular schedule.

However, individual schools may issue separate instructions depending on local circumstances.

Maharashtra School Holiday September 9

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for Maharashtra’s two districts - Thane, Raigad till September 12. These districts are likely to see thunderstorms and rainfall over the next few days.

No statewide or district-wise school closure has been announced yet. However, considering the issued yellow alert, some districts like Thane, Raigad might announce school closures.

Uttarakhand School Holiday September 9

Uttarakhand remains one of the states where parents and students should closely monitor local announcements. The state’s hilly terrain makes heavy rainfall particularly concerning because it can lead to landslides, road blockages and transport disruptions.

However, there is no confirmed blanket statewide school holiday for September 9 at the time of writing. If weather conditions worsen, district administrations can announce closures for schools in affected areas.

Uttar Pradesh School Holiday September 9

Schools across Uttar Pradesh are not under a confirmed statewide closure for September 9. However, rainfall and thunderstorms could affect some districts.

Students should check notifications issued by their district administration or school, particularly in areas experiencing waterlogging, flooding or unsafe road conditions.

West Bengal School Holiday September 9

West Bengal is among the regions expected to receive significant rainfall around September 9. Heavy to very heavy rain has been forecast in parts of the state.

However, there is no automatic statewide school holiday solely because of the weather alert. Parents should check announcements from the state government, district administration and individual schools before sending children to school.

Bihar and Jharkhand School Holiday September 9

Bihar and Jharkhand may experience rainfall and thunderstorms in some areas. At present, there is no confirmed statewide school closure for September 9.

Schools may, however, announce local changes if heavy rainfall causes waterlogging, flooding or disruption to transportation.

Odisha School Holiday September 9

Odisha may also experience rainfall and thunderstorms in some areas. No statewide school closure for September 9 has been confirmed at present.

Students and parents should follow updates from their respective district administrations and schools for any last-minute announcement.

Himachal Pradesh, Punjab and Haryana School Holiday September 9

There is no confirmed statewide school holiday for September 9 in Himachal Pradesh, Punjab or Haryana based on the latest available updates.

Schools are generally expected to remain open unless a district administration or individual school issues a separate closure order. In Himachal Pradesh, parents should continue monitoring local weather and road conditions because weather conditions can change quickly in hilly areas.

Is September 9, 2026 A School Holiday?

September 9, 2026 is not a nationwide school holiday in India. Holiday calendars vary between states, boards and individual schools. Calendar listings also do not show a major nationwide festival holiday on September 9.

Therefore, students should not assume that schools will be closed tomorrow simply because heavy rain has been forecast in some parts of the country.

Parents are advised to check:

  • Official school WhatsApp groups or SMS updates
  • School websites and circulars
  • District administration notifications
  • State education department announcements
  • Local weather and road conditions

Any rain-related school closure should be treated as confirmed only after an official announcement from the relevant authority or school.
