Patna School Summer Vacations 2026 till Class 5; Timings Revised for Classes 6 to 8

Patna School Holiday 2026: Due to the intense heatwave conditions and rising temperatures in Bihar, the Patna district government has ordered the closure of schools up to Class 5 and modified the timetables for Classes 6 through 8. The choice was made to protect students from the health risks brought on by heatwaves and extreme heat. According to the district magistrate's most recent ruling, all public and private schools, including preschools and Anganwadi facilities, would be closed to students up to Class 5 from May 22 to May 26. Students will only attend morning sessions for sessions 6 through 8, and schools are told to wrap up academic activity by 10:30 AM.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned of continued heatwave conditions across Bihar, with temperatures crossing 40 degrees Celsius in Patna and nearby districts. Officials said children are more vulnerable to dehydration and heatstroke during peak afternoon hours. 

Authorities have instructed schools to follow the revised schedule strictly and ensure proper drinking water facilities on campus. Parents have also been advised to keep their children indoors during the afternoon and maintain hydration. Several other districts in Bihar have also announced similar restrictions as the heatwave continues across the state.
