Myntra came into existence in the year 2007 and three entrepreneurs were the mind behind this brand. Mukesh Bansal along with Vineet Saxena and Ashutosh Lawania launched it in Bengaluru.
Before Myntra, Mukesh Bansal had a job in Silicon Valley and served there for eight years, first as a software engineer, and then as a product manager. He returned to India with great ideas, and founded Myntra along with his co-founders.
The IIT Kanpur website mentions: “Mr. Mukesh Bansal received his bachelor's degree in Computer Science and Engineering from IIT Kanpur in 1997. He currently serves as the CEO and Co-founder of CureFit and as a President of Tata Digital.
Mr. Bansal started his career as a Business Analyst with Deloitte Consulting and later worked for many early stage companies in the Silicon Valley as an engineer and product manager across consumer internet and enterprise IT organizations. He is a first generation tech entrepreneur and has played a critical role in shaping digital commerce growth in India. First with e-commerce company, Myntra, then as head of e- commerce at Flipkart. Later he started his second venture in healthcare, Curefit. He has built two sector leading tech companies and brought new age product experience to Indian consumers” it adds.
Myntra wasn't always a fashion website. It started as a platform that allowed individuals to buy custom-made gift products. For example, personalised mugs, t-shirts and accessories. After only four years, it changed to fashion.

Who is the CEO of Myntra Right Now?
Sharon Pais is the current Head of Myntra. She replaced Nandita Sinha, who chose to quit the post.
Previously, she was the Chief Business Officer of Myntra from October 2021 to October 2025, handling the overall performance and free-spinning of the business, revenues generation, and marketplace. She was instrumental in expanding into new businesses such as Beauty/Aesthetics, Personal Care and Home brands and helped develop Myntra's Gen Z focused platform.
The Myntra website mentions: “Sharon Pais is the Head of Myntra. In this central leadership role, she leads the organisation towards its purpose to inspire vibrant and joyous self-expression by expanding fashion possibilities for India.”
“In her previous role as the Business Head of Flipkart Fashion, she led the end-to-end business strategy and P&L. In the beginning, Myntra was born out of a dream of three entrepreneurs and then it grew into a fashion power house and now the majority stake of the company lies with Flipkart. It is a classic tale of an Indian startup, moving from a personalised gifts website in a Bengaluru office to a billion dollar fashion brand trusted by crores of Indians.
