MCD Elections 2022 and 2026
As a three-time councillor, Wahi secured a huge margin in Ward 53-E (Rohini E) in the 2022 MCD elections. With a majority in MCD, the BJP nominated him as mayor in 2026; AAP boycotted and he faced Congress. He crushed Mohammad Zarif, with Monika Pant, from Anand Vihar ward, getting elected unopposed as Deputy Mayor.
Wahi has committed to improving sanitation with the aid of Delhi government grants, and said MCD's fiscal problems are over. His priorities align with BJP's urban policy under the one-year mayoral tenure under the Delhi Municipal Corporation Act. The next MCD elections are in 2027.
