Dario Amodei was born in 1983 in San Francisco, California, to an Italian-American father Riccardo Amodei and a Jewish-American mother Elena Engel.

Dario’s sister is Daniela Amodei, with whom he later co-founded Anthropic. He received his primary education in the USA and demonstrated a keen interest in science and technology at an early age. He followed his interest in science and earned a degree in physics.

Subsequently, Dario obtained a PhD in Computational Neuroscience from Princeton University. Dario took an interest in mathematics, neuroscience, and computer science, which were essential for his future career in artificial intelligence.
