Mohana which said the plea would be placed before a bench led by Justice P.S. Narasimha. That bench is already hearing several petitions linked to the NEET UG controversy, including the cancellation of the exam and the decision to hold it again.Read the article below to know more details.

Supreme Court Sends NEET Re-Test Plea to Justice P.S. Narasimha Bench

The petition challenges the National Testing Agency’s decision to cancel the May 3 NEET UG 2026 exam after allegations of a paper leak and other irregularities. While not commenting on the merits of the case, the court directed that the matter be listed before the Justice P.S. Narasimha-led bench once the Supreme Court resumes regular functioning after the current period of partial court working days.Since no interim order has been passed, there is currently nothing stopping the June 21 re-test. As of now, the re-examination is expected to go ahead as scheduled.

Petition Says Nationwide Re-Exam Is Unfair to Genuine Students

The plea has been filed by former Additional Director General of Health Services Mangala Kohli. It argues that the alleged wrongdoing was limited to certain individuals or centres and did not justify cancelling the entire examination.According to the petition, lakhs of students who appeared honestly should not suffer because of the actions of a small number of accused persons. It also says that ordering a nationwide re-test is a disproportionate step that places an unfair burden on genuine aspirants.

Apart from challenging the re-test the petition also calls for reforms in the conduct of large entrance exams. It seeks stronger technological safeguards better monitoring systems and greater institutional accountability to prevent such issues in future. With the hearing now deffred till July the legal challenge remains pending but the Re-NEET exam scheduled for 21 June is likely to proceed for now.
