School Holiday on January 28, Schools Closed in Thiruvarur District Today

According to local media reports, schools in the Thiruvarur district are closed today, January 28, 2026. The district administration has announced a holiday for all government and government-aided schools due to local religious events. 

As per reports, the order for the school holiday has been issued by the Thiruvarur district collector. Large-scale public participation is expected during the major temple consecration ceremony in the district, due to which the holiday has been announced.

The holiday applies to schools in Mannargudi, Needamangalam, and Kottur taluks. All Educational institutions in these areas are closed to ensure the smooth conduct of the event and to manage public movement. 

As per the order issued, all educational institutions are required to comply with the instructions provided. Private schools in the mentioned taluks may take an independent decision based on the local conditions and internal administrative policies. Parents and students are also advised to confirm the status of the school holiday from their respective schools. 

Since schools are closed today, January 28, 2026, as a compensation for the holiday, schools will remain operational on February 7, 2026.
