The Delhi court has ordered Pune-based physics lecturer Manisha Sanjay Havaldar to be under CBI custody for six days as part of investigations related to the NEET UG 2026 paper leak case. The order came following representations made by the CBI to the court, who stated that there is need for custodial interrogation to unearth the bigger chain related to the paper leak.

In the case, there are allegations that confidential questions regarding the NEET UG 2026 Physics test were leaked ahead of the examination.

It has been reported that Manisha Havaldar is considered a principal accused in the ongoing investigation owing to her alleged involvement in handling and leaking the questions. CBI has been carrying out an investigation into the chain of people responsible for movement of paper content.

Who is Manisha Havaldar?

According to sources, Manisha Havaldar is a physics lecturer based in Pune. Besides, she was also reportedly associated with the examination as an expert/translator with access to relevant materials regarding the questions.

As per the request made by the CBI for custody, they wanted to interrogate Havaldar about the details of the event along with finding out who all were involved in the same. With the court allowing custody of six days, the officials will have enough time to explore communication channels, paper movement, etc., as well as the involvement of other culprits who might have been involved in the same incident.

Case Relevant to Students Appearing for NEET

Since the case has something to do with the issue of security and fairness of the examination, it becomes crucial for the students appearing for NEET to know about the case. As any leakage found in the exams could create a problem for lakhs of aspiring students and questions their exam fairness.

The students must rely on information provided by the National Testing Agency and other government bodies regarding any change in the examination.

The case has not yet ended, and the next step would be for the CBI to question the accused during their custody period.
