UPSC Prelims Exam Analysis 2026

As per UPSC Faculty Cum Mentor, Mansi Goyal, from Pariksha Punch, the prelims exam analysis is provided here:

  • UPSC Prelims 2026 was comparatively difficult and more analytical in nature compared to previous years. The paper focused more on conceptual clarity and application-based understanding rather than direct factual questions.

  • There was a noticeable shift in subject-wise weightage, with higher emphasis on History, Science & Technology, and International Relations, while direct Current Affairs questions were relatively fewer.

  • Many questions required deeper understanding of static subjects along with their linkage to contemporary developments and current events.

  • Along with traditional textbooks, candidates now need detailed preparation from government reports, PIB, ministry websites, and authentic institutional sources.
