India secured a historic third ICC Men’s T20 World Cup title with a dominant 96-run victory over New Zealand at the Narendra Modi Stadium. This landmark win marks the first successful title defense in the tournament’s history. Stellar performances by Sanju Samson and Jasprit Bumrah earned praise from national leaders.

India has also earned a chapter in the history of cricket as the first team to win the T20 World Cup title two times and emerge as the most successful team in the history of the tournament with a hat trick after it defeated New Zealand in the 2026 final of the ICC Men T20 World Cup.

The victory was hailed as a national pride by the Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and the Leader of opposed party Rahul Gandhi praised the side, which won the title on home turf.

Some of the leaders who have been mentioned remarked on the notable performances of the players like Sanju Samson and Jasprit Bumrah who played a significant role in the Indian journey to the title. Their work represented the team as a whole force and strength throughout the tournament.

National Events 

The victory led to celebrations all over India as enthusiasts thronged to the streets, fired crackers and shared the celebrations on social media. 

The retired cricketers, political leaders and citizens spoke in one voice praising the Men in Blue on delivering a sporting landmark to nation.
