The Railway Board's new guidelines make CBT-2 (Part-A) and Computer-Based Aptitude Test (CBAT) scores equal in weightage for the final merit list while recruiting ALP. CBT-2 part A will be taken as 50% of the final merit, and CBAT will be taken as 50% of the final merit.

This year, RRB has raised the weightage of the Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT) to 50% in the final selection process, up from 30% last year. This revision has been based on the new criteria, which now consider the CBT-2 Part-A/CBAT equally. Previously, CBT-2 Part-A was 70% and CBAT was 30% of the total weightage on the merit list. With this change, aptitude skills have now become much more important for final selection.

RRB ALP Recruitment 2026 is one of the big recruitment drives of the Railway Recruitment Board to recruit Assistant Loco Pilots in Indian Railways. Eligible candidates are those who have passed class 10 exam and ITI certificate/diploma.

The Computer-Based Aptitude Test (CBAT) has been specially formulated to incorporate these important mental and psychological skills. The Railway Board ensures that railway safety is the primary and foremost concern, and hence the candidates should also be mentally fit to serve in this job.

This can cause a slight  change for candidates who only prepared for the written exam. High technical score candidates may not be selected if they do not do well in CBAT. However, candidates who have good reasoning ability and mental aptitude will benefit to a good extent, and  simple book reading will not be enough to score good marks.
