The Punjab Police has released the selection process for the Constable posts in the official notification PDF. Out of 3298 vacancies, 2522 vacancies are for the Constable posts in the District Police Cadre, and 776 vacancies are for the Constable posts in the Armed Police Cadre. Stage I: Stage I comprises two common Computer-Based Tests (CBT). It comprises multiple-choice questions (MCQ). It includes two papers: Paper I and Paper II. Paper-ll will be qualifying in nature.

Punjab Police Constable Selection Process 2026: Common Computer-Based Test (CBT)
The first stage of the Punjab Police Constable selection process is the Common Computer-Based Test (CBT). It comprises two papers, i.e. Paper 1 and Paper 2. Paper 1 contains 100 questions worth 100 marks. Paper 2 is a compulsory qualifying test of the Punjabi language of matriculation standard. It comprises 50 questions carrying one mark each, with 50% marks as the qualifying criteria. The marks secured in Paper 2 will not be considered for determining merit. Punjab Police Constable Selection Process 2026: PST and PMT
Candidates who are declared successful in the written test will be shortlisted for Stage II. Stage II consists of the Physical Screening Test and Physical Measurement Test. This stage will be conducted in the following order:

Physical Screening Test
The Physical Screening Test (PST shall be qualifying in nature and comprises the following events:

Physical Measurement Test

Punjab Police Constable Selection Process 2026: Document Scrutiny
The third stage of the Punjab Police Constable selection process is document scrutiny. All the qualified aspirants will be required to bring the admit card along with any one of the prescribed Photo ID Proof for entry to the venue of the Stage-III exam. They need to bring the following certificates in original and one self-attested copy of each document:

Matriculation certificate for proof of age.

10+2 or its equivalent from a recognised Education Board/University.

Proof of having passed Punjabi at the Matriculation level or equivalent

A Domicile Certificate issued by the Punjab Government is required for applying under the General/Open/UR category for female candidates.

Certificate issued by the Competent Authority to support a claim for the reserved category as applicable.

No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Head of Department/Office concerned, in case of candidates who are serving government employees

Supporting documents in case of the Ex-servicemen category
Punjab Police Constable Merit List
The Punjab Police Constable merit list shall be prepared after considering the preference of cadre filled in the application form, availability of vacancies, categories, marks obtained in Paper 1 and other specified factors. The marks secured in the mandatory qualifying Punjabi Paper (Paper-II) will not be counted in the overall score of the candidate for the merit calculation.
