PM SHRI Scheme: The school education system of India is witnessing a sea change in its approach by shifting its priorities from infrastructure development to quality, equity, inclusion, and future-proofed learning. The system educates more than 24.69 crore students through 14.71 lakh schools and strives to implement policies into institutional practices. While the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 provides the framework for the vision of the government, the Pradhan Mantri Schools for Rising India (PM SHRI) scheme is its flagship implementation mechanism.

Launched on September 7, 2022, the scheme is a Centrally Sponsored Scheme of the Department of School Education and Literacy, Ministry of Education and serves as a catalyst for systemic reforms by making the existing public schools model institutions in the country.
