National testing Agency, NTA has successfully conducted the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test, NEET 2026 examination today. As many as 22.79 lakh candidates had registered for the examination this year. The paper was conducted in pen and paper mode in 5432 centres across 551 cities in the country.
First batch of students have started to leave the examination centres and reports have started to come in regarding the paper. After last year’s question paper, many have been wondering the difficulty level of this year’s question paper. Last year, experts had pointed out that it was the toughest NEET exam ever since the history of the examination. But what about this year’s paper?
NEET 2026 question paper review: Student’s React
The first few students have started to trickle out of the examination halls across the country. Reporters of Jagran Josh have had a chance to speak with a few students. While details are awaited, the first reactions noticed on the faces of students were that of relief. Many students were seen to be in happy spirits after appearing for the examination.
First feedback is now available. As per a student from Lucknow, the paper was ‘as expected’ with Chemistry section particularly tough. Overall, he says, the paper was difficult but not as tough as previous year’s examination.
Another student from Noida has reported that the paper was tough with a few questions having more than one correct answer. Shivani, a student of CBSE board who appeared for the exam today said that the paper was definitely tougher than previous exams and similar to last year.
“It is evident that the difficulty level is increasing every year. Competition also increases, let’s see how it would be.” She said.

NEET 2026 Question Paper Expert Review
Experts have shared their first review of this year's NEET question paper. While the complete exam analysis is awaited, experts are calling the paper tough but not as tough as last year. Speaking to Jagran, Mr. Gupta called the paper a well balanced question paper with emphasis on conceptual learning. "NTA is making its tsnad very clear - if your concepts are in place, you can crack the exam," he said. Another expert called out the paper as moderately difficult with expecting the cut off to keep increasing this year as well.
"Last year we saw more and more students struggling to score good marks. This year it would be similar." He said. He also said that students will be able to score more than 700 but whether someone will score 720 on 720 this year is still awaited.
