NEET, CUET Exams to be Held Twice a Year Like JEE Main? Education Ministry Draft Proposes Major Reforms
NEET CUET Exams: The Ministry of Education has prepared a draft proposing that major entrance examinations like NEET-UG and CUET be conducted twice a year, similar to JEE Main. The recommendations aim to reduce student stress, lessen reliance on private coaching, review question paper difficulty levels, and provide specialized training to school teachers.
NEET CUET Exams: The Ministry of Education has drafted a proposal in detail which aims to bring about structural changes in the competitive examination system in India. As per the suggested policy changes, important national level entrance exams such as NEET-UG and CUET could be held twice a year following the example of already existing JEE Main that takes place two times in a year. These changes have been recommended to help relieve students of the stress related to taking the exams only once a year and give them an opportunity to take the exams again in the same year if they do not achieve satisfactory results.
In order to help students reduce the reliance on expensive private coaching classes, it is suggested to strengthen the schools by providing special training to classroom teachers in order to prepare them to conduct entrance examinations. Moreover, the expert committee has recommended reviewing the level of questions being asked in order to make sure that they are aligned with the prescribed Class 12 curriculum. According to the draft committee, the stress levels of candidates are very high due to the fact that they have only one shot at attempting in each academic year, leading to heavy reliance on expensive coaching institutions. The introduction of biannual examinations will give them a chance to boost their marks without losing a whole year.
Difficulty and Syllabus Analysis
The committee noted that there have been consistent concerns raised by candidates regarding certain questions on the exam being above the preparedness level of Class 12 students or not being part of the syllabus. It is recommended to:

In order to limit the requirement of any outside coaching, the draft focuses on providing specific training to teachers from schools that will help students prepare for their competitive exams inside the classroom itself.
Duplicate Scorecard Service by NTA
The National Testing Agency has introduced a facility where the candidates whose original JEE Main, NEET, CUET, or other NTA scorecards have been lost, torn, or stolen can obtain a duplicate copy from the agency through an application process.
