Delhi Parents Association Voices Concerns from Students and Parents Over Shortcomings of OSM System
Delhi Parents Association voices concerns over the OSM system, problems faced by students, and the stress incured due to the faulty evaluation process.
Delhi Parents Association have voiced the concerns of parents and students regarding the CBSE OSM issue. According to representative Aparajitna Gautam, many of the parents and children are disappointed with the shortcomings of the On-Screen Marking system followed this year.
While speaking to the media, she pointed out that students don't just prepare in class 12; they work for years, knowing that their future depends on this. Students focus on competitive exams like NEET and JEE, and now, due to the OSM, many have not achieved the required marks, causing stress in families and among students.
Students are now questioning as to why the new system was introduced suddenly without a proper test run. Students voicing their complaints on social media have expressed their frustration. The Facebook Page of CBSE shows the endless complaints by students.
As per reports, 6.5 lakh students have raised objections, but it is believed that the number is even higher. From the 18 lakh students, almost 12 lakh are from government schools, many of whom are from rural areas. She pointed out that if students from metro cities are facing difficulties with laptops, the problems faced by rural children with limited access can only be imagined.
She further accused the board of rushing the training process with missing follow-ups. Teachers had to log in and practice with sample papers, but there were no verifications conducted with regard to determine if teachers actually followed through.
Another issue reported was that papers were supposed to be evaluated by PGT teachers, but due to shortages, TGT teachers were also involved in the evaluation process. TGT teachers usually teach up to class 10, so they are not fully aware of the marking scheme, she pointed out, which could also be a reason why some students received lower marks.
